ParkSafe Privacy Policy
Last Updated: May 2026
Overview
ParkSafe (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) is a parking assistance application that helps users find and understand parking regulations in New York City. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.
Location Data
- What: Your device’s geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude)
- When: Only while you are actively using the app
- Why: To display parking signs and restrictions near your current location
- Storage: Location data is NOT stored on our servers. It is only used in real-time to query parking sign information and is immediately discarded.
Local Device Data
- Parking Reminders: When you create reminders for parking restrictions, this information is stored locally on your device only. We do not have access to your reminders.
- Preferences: App settings and preferences are stored locally on your device.
Diagnostic Data
- What: Crash reports, device model, and iOS version
- When: Only when the app crashes
- Why: To identify and fix bugs, improving app stability for all users
- Storage: Crash data is sent to Firebase Crashlytics (Google) and stored on their servers. This data does not include personal information, location, or any content from your reminders.
Advertising Data
ParkSafe is supported by ads served through Google AdMob. To deliver and measure these ads, Google may collect:
- What: Your device’s Advertising Identifier (IDFA), IP address, device model, iOS version, coarse location (derived from IP address, not GPS), and ad interaction events (impressions, clicks).
- When: When you view or interact with an in-app advertisement.
- Why: To serve relevant ads, measure ad performance, prevent ad fraud, and attribute installs.
- Storage: This data is handled by Google AdMob and Google’s certified advertising partners under their own privacy policies.
You can disable IDFA collection at any time by denying tracking permission when prompted, or by going to iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking and turning off “Allow Apps to Request to Track” for ParkSafe. Denying tracking does not remove ads, but ads served will be non-personalized.
- Personal identification information (name, email, phone number)
- Account or login information
- Browsing history outside of the ParkSafe app
- Contacts or address book
- Photos or media
- Precise GPS location for advertising purposes (your GPS location is used only in real-time to query parking signs and is never shared with advertisers)
Location data is used solely to:
- Query our parking sign database for signs near your location
- Display relevant parking restrictions on the map
We do NOT:
- Sell your data to third parties for monetary consideration
- Share your precise GPS location with advertisers
- Track your location history
- Build cross-app or cross-site user profiles ourselves
Data Storage and Security
- Server-side: We do not store any personal or location data on our servers. API requests are processed in real-time and not logged with identifiable information.
- Device-side: Reminders and preferences are stored locally using iOS secure storage mechanisms.
- Transit: All communication with our servers uses HTTPS encryption.
Third-Party Services
ParkSafe uses the following third-party services:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS): Hosts our API infrastructure. AWS does not receive any personal information. See AWS Privacy Policy.
- Apple MapKit: Displays maps within the app. See Apple Privacy Policy.
- Firebase Crashlytics (Google): Collects crash reports to help us improve app stability. This includes device model, OS version, and crash stack traces. No personal information is collected. See Firebase Privacy Policy.
- Firebase Analytics and Remote Config (Google): Collects aggregated, non-identifying product usage events (e.g. paywall views, ad impressions) to help us understand how features are used. See Firebase Privacy Policy.
- Google AdMob: Serves in-app advertisements. AdMob may collect your Advertising Identifier (IDFA, if you grant tracking permission), IP address, device information, and ad interaction data. AdMob shares this data with Google-certified advertising partners to serve and measure ads. See Google’s Privacy & Terms and the list of Google’s advertising partners.
- Google User Messaging Platform (UMP): Presents the consent message shown to users in regulated regions (EEA, UK, Switzerland, California, and other U.S. states with privacy laws). Your consent choices are stored on your device and transmitted to AdMob and advertising partners under the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF). See UMP information.
Your Rights and Choices
Location Access
You can control location access at any time:
- Go to iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services
- Find ParkSafe and choose your preferred setting
- You can use the app without location access, but you’ll need to manually navigate the map
Notifications
You can enable or disable notifications:
- Go to iOS Settings > Notifications > ParkSafe
- Toggle notifications on or off
Advertising Choices
You have several ways to control how ads work in ParkSafe:
- Tracking permission: When prompted by iOS, you can deny tracking. This stops apps from using your IDFA to personalize ads. You can change this at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
- Manage Privacy Choices: If you live in a region with privacy laws (EEA, UK, Switzerland, California, etc.), ParkSafe shows a “Manage Privacy Choices” option in the app where you can review and update which advertising partners may process your data.
- Remove Ads: ParkSafe offers an in-app purchase to remove all ads. Once purchased, no ad-related data collection occurs during your session.
Delete Data
To delete all locally stored data:
- Delete the ParkSafe app from your device
- All local data (reminders, preferences) will be permanently removed
Children’s Privacy
ParkSafe is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of any material changes by updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy.

- Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising

ParkSafe does not “sell” personal information for monetary consideration, but the use of your Advertising Identifier by Google AdMob and its certified partners to serve personalized ads may be considered “sharing” under California law. You can exercise your right to opt out at any time by:
- Denying tracking when prompted by iOS, or disabling it in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking
- Selecting “Manage Privacy Choices” inside the app to opt out via the in-app consent message

- Location data (used in-app only, never stored on our servers): legitimate interest in providing the core app functionality.
- Crash and diagnostic data: legitimate interest in maintaining app stability.
- Advertising data (IDFA, IP address, ad interaction data shared with AdMob and its partners): your consent, gathered through the Google User Messaging Platform consent message shown on first launch. You can withdraw consent at any time via “Manage Privacy Choices” inside the app, or by purchasing “Remove Ads” to disable advertising entirely.
Your GDPR rights:
- Access, rectify, or delete data held about you
- Object to or restrict processing
- Withdraw consent for advertising at any time
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority
To exercise these rights, contact us at parksafellc@gmail.com. Data held by Google AdMob and its advertising partners is governed by their own privacy policies, linked above.
Summary
ParkSafe is designed with privacy in mind. We only use your location in real-time to show nearby parking signs—we don’t store it, track it, or share it with advertisers. Your reminders stay on your device. ParkSafe is supported by ads served through Google AdMob; you can disable tracking, manage your consent choices in-app, or purchase “Remove Ads” to remove ads entirely.
